Yahoo! supplemental registration (trap page)

Objective:
The objective was to further secure the Yahoo! services by adding additional security questions and data points to make it harder to compromise accounts. Governer Sara Palin's Yahoo! account was compromised by a friend of the family who knew personal information that they kept trying until they got into her account. This person then exposed her data to the internet at large. Usually there wouldnt be too much damage done, but if public figures private business is exposed through the internet it is our dutey to make this close to impossible to achieve.
Challenges:
The challenge was to introduce a "trap page" ( a page that a user sees once they login to Yahoo! ) and is forced to fill out data to continue, without upsetting or discouraging our 500 million members.

Summary and notes:
The page needed to be a bit inviting, easy to use, and very straitforward. We kept the design simple, no flashy graphics, minimal text, and some help tips shown when needed during a tast. We layed out the page in sections , and explained in once sentence the objective of the page. We also highlighted the only "Required" section with an astrick. Overall , the design tested well, and we also gave them a "Remind me later" button that if in a hurry, they will not have to fill out the form when they first see it. After subsequent logins, they will have to submit the information.
