A project which takes the current 15 year old Yahoo! Account Information design and code and redesign it to meet the current Yahoo! social direction the company is going in.
Below is an example of the first concept model bringing the Information architecture together and then evangelizing the directions of information to other team members.
An example of the entire Yahoo! service audit for settings/options was completed before design began.
Examples of personas that were used in order to fully understand and design for multiple users.
Ages: 15-25 Demographic
Ages: 30-35 Demographic
Broadband Users
Users using Core ID for expression:
Typically users falling in the younger demographics 15-25 are least likely to enter Member Center, simply because there is no incentive for them to do so. However, if we integrate CoreID into MC, we may see a usage change in this age group.
The Long time Yahoo User: These sets of users are typically internet savvy and have used Yahoo! services over a long period of time. These users are more inclined to keep their relationship with Yahoo! active, and hence keep the data refreshed from time to time.
Broadband subscribers
BB users are considered "premium service" users and are most
likely to have truthful data on their account. They are also most
likely to have all the data about themselves on file.
Early framework sketch questions were produced. This is where I noted all the possible use cases that a user would experience and began to fit them in a concept UI.
Quick informational layouts with pro's and con's of each.
Examples of the various UI's I created and printed out in order to do a paper prototype test in the lab.
Early concept version of the Member center account. This is before integration into Yahoo! Profiles.
Sample of detail inline edit spec.
Groupings were selected by doing card-sorting tests and implemeting the most used settings.
Final design in production early 2009 :)
